So for those that might know me, you know I’m originally from Chicago, Illinois. I’ve lived in Brooklyn for over a decade and in New York City for even longer, but of course Chicago will always be my true love. Every year in July I get on a plane to meet my sister and friends to celebrate a Chicago original – House Music.
We all converge on the South Side of Chicago, a mecca of culture and creativity. From 7a.m. to sundown my friends and about 50,000 other house music lovers party, cook, eat and love together as we listen to The Chosen Few DJs spin new and classic house music.
This has to be my favorite part of the summer. The fashion, the people, the music, the laughing and reuniting. I love Chicago and all of the people in it. Just like New York there is no place like it. You’d have to be born there to understand the connection.
